ADMINISTRATION
“Corporate Services Department is composed of Administration, Human Resources Management and Information and Communication Technology.”
- Provide direction in terms of what the Department needs to do to support the overall strategy of the Municipality,
- Chairing meetings which facilitate cooperation between the Municipality , key role players and other stakeholders and fast-tracking of service delivery.
- Managing and controlling the budget allocated to the Department.
- Drafting the items and Co-Chairing Portfolio Meetings, where all issues were deliberated and recommended to the Executive Committee.
- Sitting and serving in all Council Committees.
- Ensuring that all resolutions taken by the Executive Committee and Council are implemented timeously.
- Instrumental in overseeing that development of the Departments Frameworks to ensure that they are integrated with the IDP.
- Monitoring Department and Units plans, objectives and standards and controlling the allocation and maximization of Unit resources,
The overall function of the department is to provide technical and strategic direction in infrastructure development (Human Settlement, Electrification, Roads and Stormwater Management, Community Halls, Sporting Complex) within the municipal boundary.
The department ensures that the community of Umzumbe Local Municipality future developments are in line with what the community needs as documented in the Municipal Integrated Development Plan (IDP). This plan ensures the wellbeing of the communities within the municipality’s area of jurisdiction.
The overall function of the department is to maximize the municipality’s resources ensuring the municipality performs its business in a sustainable manner. This is to ensure the municipality remains financially viable; increase the confidence of stakeholders in the municipality’s financial management, value for money for its residents and excellence in financially related matters

This unit is responsible for all the issues, incidents and activities relating to management and mitigation of disasters within Umzumbe Local Municipality. The Disaster Management Act, (Act 57 of 2002) in which the main features of disaster management are described as preventing or reducing disasters, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery and rehabilitation.

Umzumbe Local Municipality (KZ213) is one of the four local municipalities within the District of uGu (DC21). The Municipal boundary runs along the coast for a short strip between Mthwalume and Hibberdene and then balloons out into the hinterland for approximately 60 km.
