Umzumbe Municipality through its Youth Development unit hosted the Matric Achievers award at St. Faiths Hall ward2. The awards seek to appraise learners who excelled in Grade 12 and also applaud schools that have performed exceptionally well.
The top 10 highest performing matriculants of 2019 and the 10 highest performed schools were awarded for their stellar achievements by the Acting Mayor: Cllr Londolo Zungu, in which she exclaimed with joy the good results of 2019.
“We wish to encourage the next generation of matriculants to strive for excellence with no compromise and assist in shaping a better future for Umzumbe through academic excellence, ” said Zungu. She further extended gratitude towards Vodacom which sponsored with hampers for the awardees.

Umzumbe Local Municipality (KZ213) is one of the four local municipalities within the District of uGu (DC21). The Municipal boundary runs along the coast for a short strip between Mthwalume and Hibberdene and then balloons out into the hinterland for approximately 60 km.
