UMZUMBE Municipality hosted an information dissemination session on business on Thursday the 21st February 2013, at Ndumakude Community hall, in Ward 13, to give share information with aspiring, small & medium business entrepreneurs (SMMEs) on how to establish and manage a business successfully.  Facilitated by our own Local Economic Development unit, the workshop intended to improve business management skills to small and medium entrepreneurs as well as those with an interest in business.

Amongst other things the session focused on issues related to business marketing, financial planning, sustainability, compliance on BEE certificates as well as tax clearance.

Welcoming the business community, ward councillor, Sbongiseni Cele, encouraged the participants to consider opportunities in running big businesses to stimulate local economic growth.

Various stakeholders that play a role in economic development were also part of the workshop to assist in disseminating information about the different initiatives that government and the private sectors offers to develop SMMEs and Cooperatives.

Amongst invited business community were young people, women and people living with disabilities who were also encouraged to take advantage of business opportunities available so as to participate actively in the economy.
